This was the second 20 miler in this cycle and it was much faster and felt much better than the first one.  I went back to what I used to do on the longer runs; looping back past my house to get a drink and a powergel.  I did 7 up by the beach, then I did 7 on the bike trail, then another 6 on the bike trail, after each loop I get a Gatorade and a gel.  I don't know why I got away from this routine, but it makes such a difference.  It breaks up the run mentally, plus I'm taking in calories so I didn't feel so tired during the last few miles.

This run felt really good.  The pace was steady throughout, despite a stiff west wind.  I sped up a bit over the last couple of miles for a total time out of 2:35, this is 7 minutes faster that my last 20 4 weeks ago but the effort felt the same.  Progress.
