Instead of taking my own advice, I went ahead and went out way too fast in the first mile, like an idiot.  Its such a fast field that its hard to pace yourself properly.  I have no business running my first mile in 5:36.  Followed by a 5:55 and a 6:02, then I began to pay the price with a 6:12!  At least I was able to pull it together in the last mile with a 5:47 for a 29:35 overall, my slowest five all summer.  I thought I might have had something a lot faster in me today, but I just blew it.  Now I have to get some short fast stuff in preparation for some 5ks.  I'm going to drop the mileage a bit and focus on speed.  More than disappointed, I'm pissed of with todays performance, because I did it to myself.  Total of 6 miles today including the mile warm up.
