Ran much better today.  Conditions were very close to ideal, 60's, sunny, just a tad too windy.  Overall a very fast race, the winner was 14:35!

I teamed up with Carlos whom I met last weekend and we went through the 1st mile in 5:35, just about right, mile 2 was 5:47, into the north wind on Ocean ave, then I pulled away and tried to catch another guy I met before the race.  The last 1.1 was 6:14 with the last 600m on the boardwalk dead into the wind.  I just couldn't catch the guy, so I had to be satisfied with 37th place, 17:38.  Looking back to last year, I finished in 19:4?, but I was just 19 days post-op, but I was fourth in my age group.  Today, more than 2 minutes faster, I was 6th in my age group, you just never know who will show up.

Hisako and Nugget came to watch,  Nugget was more exhausted than I was by the time we got home.

Next race is the Pier Village 5k on Labor Day, so Ive got 3 weeks to get some speed work in and try to shave a few more seconds off my time.
