Today was the last race of the Jersey Shore Grand Prix.  You couldn't ask for better conditions, cool, dry, slight breeze.  I ran a good race, not as good as I had hoped, but a solid effort, plus I won my age group.  The splits were pretty even, but I fell off a bit in the last mile, which is unusual for me.

First mile was 5:39, second mile was 5:38 (11:18) and the last 1.1 was 6:17, which is about 5:43 pace.  Finish time was a few seconds fast than Asbury, but still 4 seconds short of my best.  17:35.  In the series I was 8th overall, I'm pretty happy with that, the guy who was 7th was close today, but he had me by more points than I could have made up in todays race.  It was a good summer of racing, my best actually, but now its time to focus on cranking out some higher mileage.  There is still the Brielle 10K next weekend, plus the Shore AC XC series through October.
