Allaire's Hills

After my weekly visit to Labcorp I headed out to Allaire for my hill workout.  I did about 2.75 mile for a warmup, then did my usual hill routine, just on a new hill.  The hill is much longer than the one in Brielle where I've been going for the last few weeks, and the ground is also really soft/sandy.  Both of these factors made today's run much tougher and slower.  For anyone who has ever run in soft sand, you know how difficult it is, now just imagine it going up hill.  The downhills had to be slower too, I had to be pretty cautious just to make sure I didn't turn my ankle.  I did two sets of each exercise, like ususal, plus I added one extra set that was a combination set, so I did about 7 miles of hills today, maybe a mile more than usual.  The whole workout was 11.25 miles @ 1:35.

Even though it was a more difficult workout, it was nicer to be in the quiet woods.  No people, no cars, no distractions, just me and the hill.  Plus the softer ground means a lot less impact on my legs, so while I really pushed it today, I bet my legs won't be as sore tomorrow.  Weather permitting I'll be doing the same workout on Saturday.
