I had a good week out in California.  I felt much better, all the fatigue and most of the congestion were gone by the time I got there.  I got to eat really good food all week, plus I was able to get in most of my runs in the morning before work.

After arriving Sunday night, I was up at the crack of dawn Monday, so I headed down to the beach for an easy 8.  It was about 2.5 miles to the beach, mostly down hill, which meant that the lst 2.5 of all my runs would be up hill.  I felt very fresh that morning so I had no trouble doing 8 @ 58.

Tuesday morning I was a little tired so I slept in and did my run after work.  When I got home I followed the same route as the day before, but I added two more miles.  I also made that run a progression run, trying to get each mile faster that the last.  This was tough because those last few miles up through Santa Monica were a gradual climb.  I felt very strong through and got through 10 @ 68, which was impressive since we had to skip lunch that day.  But we made up for skipping lunch by a massive Korean BBQ dinner!

Wednesday I was able to get out early again.  I took it easy and just did 8 @ 66 in the grey drizzle.

Thursday I was up early again and switched up the route.  Instead of running north towards Malibu, I ran south through Venice beach.  Not much going on down there at 6 am.  Again, I felt good and did 11 @ 1:24.  Definitely all the rest I was forced to take the week before made me feel refreshed.

Then came Friday.  I was supposed to leave at 7am, but I got a call from Continental @ 1:30 am and again @ 2:00 am, telling me to call because the status of my flight had changed.  When I finally got through, after being on hold  until 2:30, I found out that my flight was canceled.  So I tried my best to get back to sleep, but being awake for two hours or so  in the middle of the night pretty much ruined my sleep and I was exhausted all day.  I skipped my run that day.

Then Saturday was my travel day, and the timing was no good to squeeze in a run so I just flew home, touching down in Newark @ midnight.

Then today after sleeping very late and doing some painting I did an easy 5 on the treadmill.  I'm ready to get back into the full swing of things this week, I'm going to push it this week and next to try to get ready for the Shamrock Half Marathon 3/16.

Total for the week: 42
         for the  year: 473
