The conditions for this race were definitely less than ideal.  The rain had tapered off to a drizzle by the start, but the wind was stiff.  The first 3 miles went directly into the wind, and also slightly uphill.  Then we turned onto a wooded road where we got a break from the wind, but the very gradual climb continued.  It was difficult to get into a rythym, and by 5 miles I was all alone @ 30:40.  Just after six miles the terrain flattened out and I started reeling people in, then the downhill began and my pace picked up.  I continued passing people and when we turned south and had the tail wind and the downhill I really let loose.  The last five miles were under 29 minutes!  I felt strong finishing coming through the last mile in 5:37.  Overall I came in 59th @ 1:18:07, a new PR.  I think under different conditions I could have gone faster, but I'm satisfied with the way the race turned out and how strong I was in the second half.  With warm up and cool down I got in 16 for the day.  Dad also did well, on minimal training running a 2:22!

Total for the week: 54 (chemo week 21)
         for the  year: 681
