Today was a good race.  Pretty even pace, and I felt just about maxed out coming through the finish line.
I did a full warm up today of about two miles, running the last half mile at about race pace.  I think this definitely helped make the first mile feel much easier.

I went through the first mile in third place, tucked in behind two guys, @ 5:34.  By the second mile I was in second, with the first place guy pulling away and the third place guy fading back @ 5:32.  The last 1.1, @ 6:10, was really tough.  The wind was right in your face for about the last 3/4 mile, and it was stiff.  The splits were really even, and though I felt strong at the finish, there was no way the last mile was going to be my fastest.  Regardless, I came in second overall, with a new PR of 17:16 (15 seconds faster than last year at the same race.)

Everyone else did good too, Dad @27, Pete @32, and Kara @45! fastest pregnant lady on the course.  After cooling down for about a mile I felt good, just a little chilly, so about 7 for the day, I was hoping to get in a few more, but maybe I'll add a few to tomorrow's long run.
