I finally found a nice flat place to run.  About five minutes from our house (by car) is a section of the Old Erie Canal.  It's a stretch of crushed stone path that runs from just east of Syracuse all the way to Rome NY 36 miles away.  Running on that trail really made me feel like I was up in the north.  For most of the section that I ran on today, all you could see was green.  The canal is right there, with lots of fish in it, and most of the surrounding area is just woods.  It was really great, and did I mention flat.  The trail is actually the old pull trail where the horses that pulled the barges from here to the Hudson would walk.

After an easy mile (9:30) with Hisako, Nugget, and Willie, I picked up the pace a bit, keeping it mostly @ 7:30.  The last two I pushed it just a bit, and finished 8 in 60 minutes.  It felt really good to go for a "long" run, especially in such tranquil surroundings.  This was my longest single run and my longest week since the marathon, and it was also the first time I ran five days in a week, let alone five days in a row.  So I'm feeling good that maybe I can stick to my new training schedule.

Total for the week: 23
         for the  year: 1252
