Despite some ridiculously windy conditions I ran much faster than I thought I could. After a little warm up, I lined up and took off. When I came up on the first mile the clock said 5:37! I really thought that must have been wrong, but apparently it wasn't. The second mile I slowed a bit but still felt alright, went through 2 mile @ 11:24. Mile three was tough, a lot of it was heading straight into the hard west wind, but I held it together and went through 3 @ 17:24. That was when I realized that I had a shot at getting in under 18, so I really kicked for that last tenth of a mile and crossed the line in 17:57. With the warm up and cool down I ran about five today.
