The long run.

Well, now the really tough part of the week is over.  Today's workout was tough, my legs weren't quite 100% after Tuesday, but that's part of it, learning to run hard on tired legs.  Today I did 3 x 4.5 mile with 1/2 mi. jog in between.  I was aiming for about 6:20 pace for the fast parts, but I was a little off that.  The first mile was relatively slow, kind of a warm up @ 6:50, then I got closer to pace for the next 3.5, ending up @ 29:16 which is right at 6:30 pace.  The next fast section, felt easiest of the 3 @ 29:09, just a bit faster.  The last 4.5 was tough, both because my legs were tired and most of this part was heading into the wind, 29:49 slowest of the 3 @ 6:38.  Average pace for the 13.5 fast miles was 6:32.  Overall it felt pretty good, though I think my legs are going to be sore tomorrow.  I got lucky with the weather today, it was supposed to get up to 77, but as late as it was when I headed out, I think the temperature was dropping.  By the end of the run, the sun was setting, and even though the wind slowed me down, it also cooled me down.  15 miles total for the day at 1:40:31.
