No matter what kind of shape you're in, the course at Holmdel always kicks your ass!!  I know this course well enough that I know how to run it pretty well, but today was weird because I really don't know what kind of shape I'm in?  I need to do a flat fast time trial sometime soon to set my training paces.  The Turkey Trot is in two weeks, so that might work.

Anyway, the plan was to go out easy, especially as most of the first half mile is up hill.  I did that, kept it under control, and started passing people who went out too hard as soon as it started to flatten out.  Then picked it up a bit in the second mile, which goes down into the bowl.  Flying down hill, then the last few strides back up and out were barely running, still had plenty left.  The last mile is mostly down hill and I was feeling good, so I just flew.  Finished just under 20 minutes, I think 19:55.  Very happy with that, I think the last 1.1 was under 6:00 pace, so a strong finish to a good XC season.  Plus I'm pretty sure we won big today!!
