Today I was planning on doing some tempo intervals at the Brick reservoir, but the 20+ mph wind pretty much ruined that idea.  So the best place to run on a really windy day is in the woods.  I headed out to Allaire to do 8 miles.  About 4 easy for a warm up, then a mile of hill bounding and sprinting.  Time doesn't matter on a run like this, its all effort based.  The idea is to get the legs burning without getting the lungs burning.  It's supposed to be a strength workout, not a speed workout.  Well, mission accomplished, my legs felt tired but not beat up, like they would have if I had done tempo intervals.  I figure while I'm still building the volume back up, I'm just going to sprinkle in all different types of workouts, just to mix it up and keep it interesting.  Looking back to '08, I used to do 3 sets of 10 reps of bounding, sprinting, and springing uphill.  Today I could barely do 10 total!  Man I was fit back then!
