Good Race!

Well my first race as an Ocean county resident went better than expected. I ran the 1.5 miles from our house to the start as a warm up, which was very necessary, since it was, and is still well below freezing and windy. After some race pace strides I was ready to go. Now I'm pretty positive the course was short, but maybe not by that much, maybe only .05? But the mile markers were all over the place so the splits I have are meaningless. More important than the time was where I finished. Throughout the entire race I was pretty solidly in 6th place. With a mile to go I closed the gap and moved into 5th, then coming down the home stretch, in the last 50 meters or so, I slipped into 4th place with a time of 17:24. So my first race in ocean county, 4th place overall and 1st in my age group! Ran the 1.5 home to make it 6 for the day and 47 for the week.
