Great workout!

So my initial plan for today's workout was to do 12 x 400 with a 3 mile warm up and cool down, making it nine for the day. But with this weather, running 400's on the track didn't sound like too much fun. Now here comes the lucky part. I mentioned this workout to Brian Hanlon on Monday and he said he thought he could get us into the indoor track in Toms River. Turns out the guy who I beat coming down the home stretch in that race a few weeks ago knows some people, plus, Brian knows everyone in Toms River, so we got in!! I knew I wouldn't get 9 in so I got up early and did an easy 4 on the treadmill this morning. Then this afternoon, we all headed over to the bubble and got a great run in. Each of the 3 of us took the pace for the first 9 400's, then Brian took # 10, and I did 11 and 12 solo. I cut the older guys some slack for not doing as much as me, but over 12 quarters I averaged just under 80 seconds each, that's 5:20 pace. It felt just right, I could have done them faster, or done a few more, but no reason to push the first speed workout in many months. Shorts and a tank top when it's below freezing outside, awesome!! And I still got 9 in for the day.
