Early this morning I was up, had coffee and a muffin and was ready to go.  I noticed right when I got up that the sky in the west looked especially dark, but I dismissed it as the fading night sky.  Right as I was getting ready to go it started to drizzle, then it really started to pour.  So I decided to delay the run, the forecast said the showers would end by 9:00.  Back to bed I went and easily slipped back to sleep.  I woke up for the second time at 9:30 and the rain had stopped.  A few bowls of cereal and another cup of coffee and I was ready to go.  When I left the house it was just over 70 degrees and humid, but not too uncomfortable.  By the time I got to the reservoir the rain had started again.

At that point the forecast said "scattered showers ending by noon."  The plan was to do 3 loops, the first 2 easy, then push it on the third one, then wrap it up with an easy 2 miles to cool down.  By the end of the first mile I was completely soaked, but it felt great.  I cruised through the first lap @ 37:26 which felt effortless.  The next loop felt just as easy in just under 37.  I was feeling so good that I thought I might be able to get that last loop down close to 30.  But then the rain stopped, and the sun started to come out.  As I began the last loop and started to push, the temperature jumped and it just felt steamy.  I still put in a solid effort, but had to settle for 31:59.  If I had forced the pace any faster I would have been doing way too much.  The last 2 miles were jogged for a total of 17 for the day @ 2:01.  Most of next week is recovery in preparation for the Belmar 5.  If we get decent weather I should be able to run well.

Total for the week: 70
          for  the  year: 1342
