This morning I had planned on getting up early so I could run twice today to try to make up for taking off yesterday.  But as often happens, I opted for more sleep.  Sleep is the other half of the equation.  It's when the body recharges and repairs the damage done during the workouts.  If you can't repair/recover from the hard workouts, well, then there is no progress.  So I never feel bad about getting extra sleep.

Since I didn't get out the door until late in the morning, I decided to do one relatively long run today.  I have a one-way route, up through Bay Head and Point ending in Sea Girt that is 15 miles.  Plus I remembered my bike was still at Mom and Dad's, so off I went.  The weather was great, not as bad as predicted.  The light NE wind I was running into for most of the run really kept me from getting too hot, plus by the time I got into Point the clouds had rolled in pretty thick.  Nice summer running weather.  The best part about this run is that the end involves a swim in the pool.  While I was busy re-hydrating and refueling I threw my shorts the dryer and relaxed poolside in a towel.  Once everything was nice and dry I hopped on the bike and rode home via the more direct route which is only about 9 miles.  The run took about 1:50, good steady pace throughout.  So overall I covered 24 miles on my own steam today, I'll probably sleep well tonight.  Work tomorrow then off for the weekend!
