Another good race this morning.  I thought maybe today was the day I would drop a new PB, but it didn't happen.

I consciously went out hard, first mile in 5:30, surprisingly felt OK (into the wind too.)  Second mile slowed a little at 5:40 = 11:10.  The last mile wasn't great.  I didn't really fall apart, I just lost contact with the only people near me.  I took a look behind me and saw nobody in sight, so I may have mentally eased up.  Went through the last 1.1 in 6:19 (which is like 5:45 pace.)  I definitely didn't have anything left at the end, but fortunately, I didn't need it.  I came in 10th overall (17:30), and 11th place was 30 seconds back.  I won my age group again, and came in 4th overall for the Grand Prix.  So I picked up a nice new workout bag, a check for the age group win, and another check for being 4th in the series.  Beautiful weather made it a nice way to end the summer racing season.  Next up, Brielle 10k is Saturday, and after that, it's Cross-country season!!
