The long run.

Last "hard" run.

Not really a hard run, but I had to work a tiny bit on today's loop.  Normally on the Tuesday before a long race I like to do a 3 x 1 mi @ race pace.  I was thinking about doing it today too, but once I got out there my legs didn't feel too great.  Probably from a combination of things.  Running a hard, long run in the hills on Sunday and then taking the day completely off yesterday definitely left my legs feeling less than fresh today.  So nothing to be concerned about, plus this last workout is just to get a feel for race pace, and to mentally convince yourself one last time that it is a "reasonable" pace based on the training that has been done up to this point.  So instead of doing 3 x 1 mile, I just did some easy strides mixed into the first 3 miles, then did one mile @ 5:55 which is about perfect for a race pace mile.  It didn't feel really difficult, in fact I was pretty sure that when I looked at my watch it was going to say I had run maybe 6:10.  Another easy mile to cool down, 5 for today in under 34 minutes.  From here on in just short easy runs with strides mixed in to stay loose.  The hay is in the barn!
