This was the type of day I've been waiting for!  By the time the race was over it was still in the 40s, Perfect!  I just felt lighter and faster without the humidity holding me down.  They got the course back to the original layout, probably very close to an actual 5K (measured on a bike with odometer.)  I ran very well.  It's funny because for the last two weeks my mileage has been very low, post half marathon.  Then this week, I cranked it back up and felt so much better running today.  Monmouth U. and NYU men's XC teams showed up and I managed to beat a few college kids!  That's always a bonus.  I ran 18:09, exactly the same time I ran 2 years ago in my build up for the Philly Marathon.  The conditions were great, true cross-country; slippery leaves, roots, branches, and in one or two places mud so deep that a few people had their shoes sucked off their feet!!  With warm up and cool down 7 for the day.
