Medium long

Most of the time, you just put the miles in. Your mind may wander, but usually it's quickly back to reality. Sometimes when you really hammer, not much is going through your mind but to keep pushing and hang on until the end. Then there are days like today. I studied all morning and into the afternoon then headed over to Allaire for an easy medium long run. The goal of this run was to keep the effort easy. That meant no pushing uphill and taking it easy on the downhills. In running 13 miles this way I get a good aerobic run in, but at the end my legs barely felt like they had been running for 1:42. Feeling relaxed throughout and at the end of the run is a great thing, it's a run for the mind as much as it is for the heart and the legs. And it helps that the trails were deserted and the fall foliage is still in high color. Just me and some deer, and a red tail hawk or two out in the woods.
Plus, when I got home, I found another check in the mail from the Jersey Shore Grand Prix for winning my age group. 2011 has definitely been my most "lucrative" year as a runner. I think between cash and prizes, I'm probably ahead for the year!
