Near perfect conditions and a good pack of fast guys to run with.  After my regular warm up, I got over to the start and it wasn't too cold.  The first half mile or so was into the wind so I tucked in and cruised.  Hit the first mile in 5:33, just about perfect.  Mile 2 was 5:36 = 11:09.  Mile 3 5:36 = 16:46.  This is right where I wanted to be, but it was maybe too aggressive.  I felt good, but the pack started to pull away a bit just after 3.  By 4 I was pretty much solo and slowing a bit, 5:48 = 23:34.  I briefly tried doing the math in my head to figure out if I was on pace to run a PB, but my brain was much to occupied with keeping the hammer down.  Great thing about this race is that there is a 4.5 mile marker, and when I passed that, I knew that I had the PB in the bag.  But I heard someone coming up on me too, so I couldn't just cruise it through to the finish.  I poured it all out over that last half and finished the last mile in 5:47 for a nice PB of 28:21, by about 12 seconds.  No real cool down today so just 7 for the day.  Long run tomorrow.
