Nice one.

At the beginning of today's run I was not feeling great. I left the house feeling hungry and the first few miles felt sluggish. But by the time I hit 5 miles I was cruising and feeling good. This is one of those physiological things that tells me that I am better at running long distances. Over the years my body has become super efficient at burning fat for fuel. Under normal circumstances, it wants to use sugar, but when that runs low, like when you're hungry (or at the end of a marathon), it switches over to burning fat. I think that this process is probably what is responsible for the mythical "second wind." It was warm enough today that I was wishing I had a short sleeve shirt on even after the sun went down. By the end of the run I felt great for having done 10 @ 1:15.
